Agnes Schwartz (Group
and Private Violin, Private Viola)
was born in Budapest, Hungary into a musical family. She began violin
studies at age 6, followed by piano and viola. Her first public
appearance was at age 11 as violinist at the Bratislava Radio in
Czechoslovakia. She graduated in Viola Performance, and Mastered in
Viola teaching at Ferene Listz Music University in Budapest where she
studied with Gyorgy Kurtag and members of the Bartok String Quartet. On
a three year fellowship to Aspen Music Festival in Colorado, she
studied with John Graham (Eastman School of Music) and Dorothy Delay
(Julliard School of Music). Agnes has also served as Principal Viola
and Concertmaster in various countries. Since 2000, she has
concentrated on teaching and performing solo and chamber music
recitals. The early death of her husband (a musician from LA) brought
her and their son back to the US in 2005. Currently, she performs as a
chamber member and as a member of orchestras and ensembles in Southern
California. As an instructor, she follows eastern European traditions
of string playing and ear training acknowledging the Suzuki Method and
adjusting to needs of Americans and American children. Her students
appear 2-3 times in recitals each year. She hopes to bring her students
love and appreciation for string instruments and give the world many
cultivated young string players! |
